Let's face it, our roads need to be a priority. I want to create a line item in the budget and set aside money every year for major road reconstruction.
I will comb through the budget proposals to find ways to save the taxpayers money. The city doesn't have to do it all, especially if we can hire local businesses to do it cheaper and better.
We all hate them, but they are a necessity. My goal is to fight to keep property taxes as flat as we can. We do this through smart, transparent spending and balancing the wants with needs. This includes prioritizing the wants. Community input is vital during budget negotiations and I will seek residents' opinions through public hearings and outreach.
We have such a great location, just a short distance from the cities, with a high volume of traffic on Highway 10. We have the prime opportunity for economic development. I will work with the City Departments and staff to bring businesses to Ramsey. We must finish what others have started and that includes continuing the development of the COR. Bringing in both small and large business will be important to our economic growth.
Ramsey is going to grow, that's a given. Growth in our community is essential to many things, including creating new revenue and new community services. We can control how it grows. I will fight to make sure new developments fit in with current neighborhoods. I will fight against proposals of smaller lot sizes in areas where the existing neighborhoods have larger lot sizes. I don't believe in making current residents compromise so developers can make more money. I will always fight for the RURAL BALANCE in Ramsey.
